OpenDoors

AISM’s OpenDoors embraces community outreach programs, the Scholarship Program and a Service Learning Program with participation from staff, students and families from all parts of the world living together here in Mozambique.  Our purpose is to connect with our local community so that we can share and learn from one another.  Our outreach programs reflect our school’s mission and core values and each program is based on trust, understanding and shared goals.

AISM’s OpenDoors is an invitation for open-minded people and organizations to work with us to reach our goals.

Participate. Support. Sponsor.

The AISM Scholarship Program provides educational opportunities to Mozambican students of secondary school age who would not otherwise be able to attend the school. The competitive, merit and needs-based program awards scholarships to select Mozambican students who meet all AISM admission and selection committee requirements.

The Scholarship Program is designed to support the academic as well as social and emotional development of the recipients for the three-year period of 10th through 12th grade.  This support creates an overall ‘enabling environment’ for the students to participate in all aspects of school life at AISM, and to succeed through to their graduation in the International Baccalaureate Program. Applications are accepted annually from students demonstrating a high level of academic and personal achievement in their current environment.

The AISM Service Learning Program provides an educational experience where participants contribute their time and services in our local community and make a positive impact not only here in Mozambique but in the world we share.  We work together with local partners to renovate buildings, paint walls, build furniture, and provide equipment, while our students and partners teach and learn from one another.

Our aim is to nurture a culture of service in our students and communities as we build meaningful and sustainable partnerships.  Service learning is a component of school life and provides opportunities and crucial experiences for a holistic development of our students.
