Learners Who Are Not Picked-Up On Time

On occasion, we have learners who are left at school well beyond the expected pick up time.  If a learner is not picked up from school by 15:15, the learner will be taken to the ASA pick-up area to wait for their parents or designated guardian.  A record of these incidents will be kept and repeated failure to pick up learners in a timely manner may result in additional action on behalf of the school.

Primary School After School On-Campus Play

All learners who are not participating in an ASA and remain on campus after school to play should all be actively supervised by their parents or designated guardians.

Secondary School Learners

Secondary School learners are dismissed from classes at 14:30.  Secondary learners are permitted to leave campus in a variety of ways as determined by their parents or designated guardians.  Learners may leave campus according to the following scenarios:

Regular Dismissal:

  • Independent Dismissal: Learners are allowed, with parent authorization, to leave campus independently.  Parents must inform the office in writing. If learners are given permission to depart independently, they do so on their own responsibility.
  • Parent Pick-up: Learners being picked up by their parents or designated guardian will remain on campus and should wait in the foyer or adjacent areas for their pick-up.

Learners Staying After School

  • Non-ASA Learners:  Secondary School learners frequently need to stay after school to continue academic work, collaborate with other learners, or to follow up with educators.  Learners are welcome to remain on campus to continue learning, However, they do so as independent learners with parental permission.  Learners staying after school are expected to be in one of the following locations: 1) in a classroom with teacher supervision, 2) on the secondary school deck, or 3) in the library.  Learners should not be hanging around campus in other locations besides those specified above.  Non-ASA Learners are expected to be picked up by their parent or designated guardian no later than 16:30 unless there is supervision by a teacher or parent.  Learners whose parents have authorized independent dismissal as described above will be allowed to depart independently.
  • ASA/Activities: Learners that participate in ASA activities are expected to move to their activity independently at the designated time.  If their activity does not begin until 15:45, i.e. ISSEA events, they are to remain on school grounds, in the locations noted above, between dismissal at 14:30 and the start of their activity.  At the conclusion of their activities, they are dismissed by the ASA facilitator to their parent or designated guardian. Learners with Independent Dismissal privileges will be allowed to leave independently.  Any learner remaining at school after the conclusion of their ASA will be directed to the Main Campus foyer and adjacent area to wait for their parent or designated guardian.

All secondary school learners should be picked up from their ASA by 18:00.
